Denmark's people

Denmark's population now is about 5,520,000. People in Denmark are called Danes. Any overweight Dane with a little self-irony might see humor in using Danish as a noun. Denmark also has an age stucture. For age 0-14 is 18.9%. For the age 15-64 is 66.2%. the life expectancy for a male to live in Denmark is about 76 years old. The life expectancy for a female to live is about 79 years old.

Denmark Places

In Denmark places are important. One of Denmark's biggest attractions is the Little Mermaid. The piece was put up in 1913.A special place in Denmark is it's castles. Slot is Danish for castle. The Christianborg slot part of Slotsholmen,and is the seat of Denmark's goverment.The palace is the center piece of it. It was built in 1730,and through several fires and restorations it has achieved it's present appearance. Also a place in Denmark is W.A.S. (Wonderland Art Space). This independent art gallery showcases the work of local Danish artists as well as international folks.

Denmark's culture

As you know  every place has a culture . Over 98% of the population speak Danish. The main religion in Denmark is Lutheran. Some of the foods are pot roast beef in sour cream,boiled beef with horseradish,boneless birds and cabbage with  forcemeat. Some traditional foods are smorre brod,frikadeller,stegt flask,kodboller, and eggepandekage.Denmark's culture consists folk dances. Some are yule tree dance,or the spillemand spil lystigt which are done on December 25, the trippevals,emmas vals, and sjijnmyravalsen, which are Danish waltzes. Destinct in the arts Denmark is known for it's famous Hans Christian Andersen. He wrote one of the most known books The ugly Duckling. Other great authors who have won nobel prizes were Johannes Jensen,Karl Gjellerup, and Henrik Pontoppidan.

Denmark's History

The Danish language came from an original German language.This language went through some changes and the danish ended up with two dialects.The two dialects were Old West Norse and the Old East Norse.If you knew Denmark had a very interesting history.In 1729 Greenland became a Danish province. In 1914-1918 Denmark was in world war 1. Also Denmark signed a 10 year non-agression pact with Germany. Germany invaded Denmark in 1940. Five years later Germany surrenders and the Danish occupation ends.
